The Jet
Private Jet Charter Miami: The Light Jet for Your Group
A Miami private jet charter with Velvet Air means one aircraft type, chosen on purpose: the Cessna Citation CJ3/CJ3+. It seats up to six passengers, has a range of about three hours, and needs a paved runway at both ends. That makes it the quick way to the Bahamas islands with a proper airport, and the wrong tool for a beach with no strip, where a seaplane is the answer.
We are a broker, not an airline. A licensed carrier operates the jet, and we act as your agent: we match your date to an available CJ3, settle the departure airport in Miami, file the passenger details for both borders and send you one total. Every Miami private jet charter is for your group alone, from the step on board to the landing.
The jet routes we arrange most often lead to Bimini, Nassau, the Exumas and Eleuthera. If you are still choosing an island or an aircraft, our Bahamas flights page compares all four, and the jet itself is listed on the fleet page.

Private Jet Charter Miami: Popular Routes
Four islands with a paved runway and customs on the field, each with its own route page. Pick one, or send us two and we plan the legs.

The shortest hop from Miami, about 55 nautical miles. The CJ3 lands at South Bimini Airport on a runway of about 5,400 feet, with customs at the airport.

About 160 nautical miles to Lynden Pindling International, where the main runway is about 11,000 feet and customs and immigration are on site.

How a Miami Private Jet Charter Works
Six things decide how a private jet charter from Miami runs: the cabin, the runway, the border, the clock, the return and the route. Here is each one, as it applies to the CJ3.
Ask About the JetThe Cabin
Up to Six Passengers, About Three Hours of Range
The Citation CJ3/CJ3+ carries up to six passengers and flies about three hours without stopping. Every island on this page is well inside that range, so the jet goes there direct. Tell us the number of bags as well as the number of guests, because a light jet has a light jet’s hold.
The Runway
A Paved Strip at Both Ends
A jet does not land on water or on grass. South Bimini, Lynden Pindling, Exuma International and the three Eleuthera airports all have paved runways of about 5,400 feet and more. If your hotel sits on an island without one, we quote the seaplane or a small plane instead.
The Border
Customs Where the Jet Lands
The landing airports named here are airports of entry, so the group clears Bahamian customs on arrival. On North Eleuthera that happens during set hours and at other times on request. We send names and passport numbers ahead, and the eAPIS filing for the flight home is ours too.
The Clock
You Set the Departure Hour
On a Miami private jet charter there is no timetable. You name the hour, within what the crew may fly, and the jet is ready for it. Most of the islands here are under an hour away by jet, and the Exumas an hour or a little more.
The Return
Same Day, Next Day or Next Week
The jet can wait for a day trip, or fly back to Miami and return for you on the day you name. Say which when you write, because it changes the quote, and we plan the return leg with the outbound one.
The Route
Two Islands on One Trip
Nassau and the Exumas, or Nassau and Eleuthera, combine well by jet. We plan each leg, the last one can come home to Miami from any island on the way, and the whole trip arrives as one total.
Departure Airports
Private Jet Miami: Where the Jet Departs
The jet leaves from one of three Miami airports. The seaplane base and the heliport on Watson Island are not used for a jet. We pick the airport nearest your hotel and name it in the quote.
Opa-locka Executive
Miami-Opa locka Executive Airport, OPF
The usual airport for a Miami private jet charter. The runway is about 8,000 feet, US Customs sits on the field, and the jet is handled at one of three full-service FBOs: Atlantic Aviation, Fontainebleau Aviation or Signature Flight Support. Closest for Aventura, Bal Harbour and the north of the city.
Miami Executive Airport, TMB, Kendall
The general aviation field in Kendall, southwest of downtown. If you stay in Coral Gables, Pinecrest or the south of the city, leaving from here saves the drive north on a busy day.
Miami International Airport, MIA
Useful when you arrive in Miami on an airline and want to continue to the islands the same day. Send us your flight number, and we set the jet departure around your arrival time.
How to Book
How to Book a Private Jet Charter in Miami
Booking the jet comes down to four steps, and only the first one needs anything from you.
Ask About the Jet- 01
Send the Trip
A message on WhatsApp or by email is enough: the date, the island, how many of you, roughly how much luggage, and whether you fly home the same day. If you want a particular departure hour, add it.
- 02
Receive the Quote
We check which CJ3 is free on your date and send back the departure airport, the landing airport, the time in the air and one total for the whole aircraft, with what it includes.
- 03
Confirm the Details
You confirm, we lock the jet and the crew. Catering, a car on the island or flowers for an occasion are added now, and the names and passport numbers go to us for the border filings.
- 04
Walk to the Jet
Come to the FBO about 30 minutes before the time we sent. Your bags go straight to the aircraft, and the jet leaves when your group is on board.
Landing Airports
Where a Miami Private Jet Can Land
Each island is reached through one airport with a paved runway. These are the ones the jet uses, from the shortest runway to the longest.
Ask About the JetSouth Bimini Airport
Bimini, about 5,400 ftSouth Bimini Airport has one runway of about 5,400 feet, the shortest on this list and enough for the CJ3. Customs and immigration are at the airport. Alice Town and the hotels are on North Bimini, a short ride across. Times and aircraft for this route are on the Miami to Bimini flight page.
The main airport of the Bahamas, on New Providence, with a runway of about 11,000 feet and a second of about 8,300. Customs and immigration are on site. Paradise Island, Cable Beach and downtown Nassau are all a drive from here. See the Miami to Nassau flight.
At Moss Town on Great Exuma, with a runway of about 7,000 feet. Customs and immigration sit inside the private aviation facility, so a jet arrival clears entry there. George Town lies along Elizabeth Harbour to the south. More on the Miami to Exuma flight page.
One asphalt runway of about 6,000 feet, and the airport closest to Harbour Island: a short taxi to the dock, then about five minutes by water taxi. Customs works set hours, other times on request. Governor’s Harbour (about 8,000 feet) and Rock Sound (about 7,200 feet) also take the jet. See the Miami to Eleuthera flight.

In Detail
Miami Private Jet Charter: The Citation CJ3/CJ3+ in Detail
Velvet Air arranges each private jet charter from Miami through a licensed carrier and stays your single contact from the first message to the landing. The jet and its data sheet are on the fleet page.
Private Jet Charter Miami: Why a Light Jet
Small group, short runway, direct
Most trips we plan from Miami carry two to six people over a distance of 55 to 275 nautical miles. That is the job the Citation CJ3/CJ3+ was built for: a cabin for up to six, about three hours of range and a runway requirement that South Bimini’s strip of about 5,400 feet still meets. A bigger jet would add seats you do not fill and rule out the shorter island runways. So a Miami private jet charter with us is the CJ3, and the quote names the operator and the departure airport. If your group is larger than six or carries more luggage than a light jet holds, tell us, and we look at a second aircraft or another type for the same day.
Miami Private Jet: Paved Runways Only
What the jet can reach, and what it cannot
The jet lands where there is a paved runway long enough for it. In the Bahamas that includes South Bimini, Lynden Pindling International in Nassau, Exuma International at Moss Town and North Eleuthera, Governor’s Harbour and Rock Sound on Eleuthera. Harbour Island has no runway, so the jet lands at North Eleuthera and a water taxi takes about five minutes across. Small cays with a beach and no strip are not reached by jet at all; for those our seaplane lands on the water or a small plane uses a short airfield. The jet also flies to the Florida Keys, and the islands that suit each aircraft are compared on the Bahamas flights page.
Private Jet Miami: A Day on the Island or a Longer Stay
Out in the morning, home by evening
Because Bimini and Nassau are under an hour away by jet, a Miami private jet charter fits a day: up in the morning, lunch on Paradise Island or a snorkel off South Bimini, back at Opa-locka for dinner. The Exumas and Eleuthera are about an hour or a little more each way, and most guests stay a night or a weekend there. The jet can wait on the ground for a day trip or return to Miami and come back for you, and the quote shows which. Tell us if a fixed hour matters at the end, such as a dinner reservation or an onward airline flight from MIA, and we plan the return leg around it.
Miami Private Jet Charter: One Request, One Total
What the quote contains
A quote from us for a Miami private jet charter lists the aircraft, the operator, the departure and landing airports, the time in the air, the add-ons you asked for and one total for the whole aircraft. We do not publish a jet price on this page, because the total depends on the date, the island, the return plan and whether the jet waits. Send the trip on WhatsApp or by email and the quote comes back the same way. Prefer another aircraft? Our home page shows the seaplane, the helicopters and the small planes we fly from Miami.
Questions
Private Jet Charter Miami FAQ
How many passengers fit on a private jet charter from Miami?
The Cessna Citation CJ3/CJ3+ we charter from Miami seats up to six passengers. For a larger group, or more luggage than a light jet holds, tell us the numbers and we look at a second aircraft for the same day.
Where can I fly on a private jet from Miami?
To any island with a paved runway in range: Bimini, Nassau, the Exumas and Eleuthera in the Bahamas, and the Florida Keys. The CJ3 flies about three hours without stopping, so each of these is a direct flight.
Which Miami airport does a private jet charter leave from?
Opa-locka Executive in the north, Miami Executive in Kendall or Miami International. We choose the one closest to where you stay, or MIA if you connect from an airline, and name it in the quote.
How long is a private jet flight from Miami to the Bahamas?
Bimini and Nassau are under an hour away by jet, Eleuthera about an hour, and the Exumas an hour or a little more. Each route page lists the exact time for every aircraft we fly there.
How much does a private jet charter in Miami cost?
Private charter flights in Miami are priced for the whole aircraft, not per seat. The total depends on the aircraft, the route and the day, and what it covers is spelled out with the itinerary before any deposit.
Can we choose our own departure time?
Yes, within daylight and within what the crew is allowed to fly. The hour is set when you confirm and can still be moved if your day changes.
Will anyone else be on the jet?
No. A charter is private: the aircraft and the captain are yours alone, and it carries the people you name and nobody else. There is no seat assignment and no other party sharing the cabin.
How early do we need to arrive?
About thirty minutes before departure. There is no terminal queue: you walk out to the aircraft, and the outbound border filing is already done from our side.
Do I need a passport to fly from Miami to the Bahamas?
Yes. Every passenger needs a valid passport with at least six months of validity, children included, and a driving licence will not do. Names and passport numbers are filed from our side before you leave Florida.
What happens if the weather is bad on the day?
If conditions are below what is safe, the crew moves or cancels the flight, and you hear early enough to change the departure. A jet can climb above much of what grounds smaller aircraft.
What is the difference between Velvet Air and the operator that flies me?
Velvet Air does not own or fly aircraft; the flight is operated by a licensed carrier. We compare carriers for your route and put forward the best fit, and one person stays with your request until you land.
